Young Delegates and Alumni Unite for Sustainable Development Dialogue

In March, ENGSO Youth Young Delegates and the Alumni Club Members came together for a dynamic online joint meeting focused on one of the most pressing global priorities: Sustainable Development. The 90-minute online session provided a space for exchange, learning, and collaboration among young leaders committed to driving positive change.

The meeting officially opened with a warm welcome, setting the tone for an interactive and engaging session. Participants quickly connected through a short ice-breaker activity, which led perfectly to the first thematic input, “BloomUp – Social Sustainability,” delivered by Maxime Delay (ENGSO Youth Young Delegate), who introduced participants to innovative approaches to strengthening social sustainability. The session highlighted the importance of inclusive practices and community-driven initiatives in building resilient societies.

This was followed by an insightful presentation titled “Beyond Green (European Perspectives)” by ENGSO Youth Alumni, Nevena Vukasinovic. The discussion expanded the concept of sustainability beyond environmental aspects, emphasising social, economic, and policy dimensions across Europe. Participants gained a broader understanding of how sustainability is being addressed at different levels and in various contexts.

The meeting continued with an interactive group activity led by the Young Delegates from the Sustainable Development Working Group. Participants were divided into breakout rooms, where each group was assigned a specific question related to sustainable development. After engaging discussions in smaller groups, participants returned to the main room to share their key insights, reflections, and real-life solutions for existing critical sustainability-related problems. This segment encouraged active participation and allowed attendees to use their creative thinking and critical mindset in order to shape future initiatives within the network.

A key highlight was the presentation of the Dare2Move4Nature and the Sustainable Goals through Sport projects by Chloe Jordan. The projects demonstrated how sport and physical activity can be powerful tools for promoting environmental awareness and how to use sport as a tool for sustainable development and education.

An open Q&A session allowed participants to reflect, ask questions, and exchange ideas, further enriching the discussion. The meeting concluded with a summary of key takeaways and next steps, reinforcing the commitment of both Young Delegates and Alumni club members to continue working together on sustainability-related actions.

Overall, the joint meeting served as a valuable platform for knowledge-sharing, inspiration, and strengthening collaboration. It reaffirmed the important role young people play in advancing sustainable development and highlighted the power of collective action in creating a more sustainable future.
