Panathlon Junior Trieste Muggia hosts the Move4Nature action in the Heart of Trieste’s Karst

The karst village of Malchina was the location of the Move4Nature walk, held as part of the European Week of Sport and organised by Panathlon Junior Trieste Muggia. The 10-kilometer loop trail guided participants from Monte Ermada to Dosso della Trincea, and onward to Goljak and Monte Sambuco, blending natural beauty, historical memory, and a strong sense of community.

The event highlighted the commitment of Panathlon Junior Trieste Muggia to promoting opportunities for sport and social connection that extend beyond local boundaries. Driven by the leadership of its president, Matilda Tommasi, the club has become part of a prestigious European framework, contributing to the arrival in Trieste of a project recognised by the European Commission and co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme.

Move4Nature, promoted by ENGSO Youth and Institut Impact, was designed to encourage citizens and communities to be more active while caring for the environment. Each activity combines walking or hiking with the collection of litter along the way, aiming to make Europe both healthier and more sustainable. In Malchina, participants once again demonstrated how sport can be transformed into a tangible act of environmental stewardship.

Among those giving visibility and strength to the project was Polona Fonda, communication officer for ENGSO Youth, who took part in the walk. Through her work, she spreads the values of inclusion, integrity, and sustainability that underpin Move4Nature, ensuring that each local action is connected to a wider European network.

The day concluded with a convivial gathering at Osmiza Pipan, a moment to celebrate the friendships and positive spirit built along the trail. A simple yet meaningful event, it brought together the international dimension of the project with the vitality of the local sports community, once again placing Trieste at the forefront of European good practices.
