First ENGSO Youth Committee Meeting of 2026

The meeting started with discussions highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen youth participation in sport governance, expand cooperation across Europe, and reinforce advocacy at both the European Union and Council of Europe levels. Members also shared developments from their national contexts, underlining the diversity and dynamism of the ENGSO Youth network. 

Updates were also shared from key ENGSO bodies, including the Executive Committee, the EU Advisory Committee, and the Equality within Sport  (EWS) group. This ensured alignment ahead of upcoming milestones, including the General Assembly in May 2026. Particular attention was given to policy developments at the European level, including discussions on the future Multiannual Financial Framework and the Erasmus+ programme, as well as ongoing reforms affecting youth organisations.

During the meeting, the Committee visited the Italian Paralympic Centre, where members learned more about the impactful work being carried out to promote inclusive and accessible sport. The visit provided valuable insight into how high-quality facilities, specialised coaching, and tailored programmes create meaningful opportunities for athletes with disabilities. Particular attention was given to the Centre’s activities in swimming and blind football. The experience reinforced ENGSO Youth’s commitment to inclusion, equal opportunities, and the promotion of safe and empowering sport environments for all young people across Europe.

Following this, the Committee reviewed ongoing projects and partnerships, assessing their current state of play, strategic relevance, and alignment with ENGSO Youth’s priorities. Members discussed upcoming initiatives and cooperation opportunities, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to quality standards and impact-driven project work.

Several important decisions were taken, and the working groups under the 2024–2027 Action Plan were assessed, with a focus on maintaining active engagement and strengthening internal coordination.

Looking ahead, preparations are underway for the ENGSO and ENGSO Youth General Assembly in Budapest in May 2026.

The meeting in Rome reinforced ENGSO Youth’s core goal: empowering young people in sport, fostering European cooperation, and keeping youth perspectives central in sport governance.
