Description:
The Fit for Life Youth Accelerator Programme has been designed to address current gaps in youth-sport programming and to unleash the full power of young people through targeted sports trainings, mentoring, project implementation, professional placements and networking opportunities with like-minded leaders, partners and policy-makers.
The Programme leverages values-based sport activities and trainings to empower young people to design, deliver, and evaluate sport for development projects within their communities. It provides youth with crucial skills and knowledge, and connects them with financial resources and networking opportunities to ensure the sustainability of their projects.
The programme is developed across 4 stages:
Masterclass series – Youth participants (aged 18-35) receive training in order to develop their projects, present objectives, impacts and sustainability plans in order to deliver “Fit for Life trainings” in their own communities;
Project selection and implementation – Based on presentations given in Phase I, a number of participants will be selected for project implementation;
Work placement – Selected will then complete a 4-6 month work placement in a partner institution (e.g. national ministry, sports organisation, or UNESCO office);
Global event – Each cycle of the Youth Accelerator Programme concludes with a youth-led symposium, organised by the participants themselves. It will bring together community actors, policymakers, implementing partners, and investors. Participants will share and promote their project impact, translate their findings into policy recommendations, engage and connect with other like-minded individuals, and explore opportunities to scale their projects.
