ENGSO Youth Participates in the European Youth Forum General Assembly 2026 in Tromsø

Taking place during Tromsø’s year as the European Youth Capital 2026, the General Assembly served as a key space for dialogue, collaboration, and youth-led decision-making. Through its “True North” vision, Tromsø emphasised sustainability, inclusion, youth participation, and innovation, while demonstrating how young people can play an active role in building resilient and connected communities across Northern Norway and the Arctic region.

During the Assembly, member organisations elected the new European Youth Forum Board for the 2026–2028 mandate, including a new President, Caillum Hedderman, and Vice-President, Chloë Cauchi. The GA also voted for GoFor (umbrella organisation of youth organisations in Türkiye) as a new full member of the European Youth Forum – ENGSO Youth welcomes them as full members and looks forward to future collaboration and joint work within the youth sector.

It was also an action-packed GA with members also debating and adopting 12 policy motions focused on youth rights, democracy, sustainability, inclusion, and the role of young people in shaping Europe’s future. These can be found here.

As part of the programme, ENGSO Youth led a morning stretch session for participants, promoting the importance of physical activity, wellbeing, and active lifestyles within youth events and conferences. The session created an energising and inclusive start to the day. ENGSO Youth also contributed to the event as an independent scrutineer, supporting transparency, accountability, and fair democratic processes throughout the General Assembly. This role reflected ENGSO Youth’s continued commitment to good governance, integrity, and meaningful youth participation within European youth structures.

Overall, the YFJ GA provided a valuable opportunity to connect with other member organisations, share the work ENGSO Youth is doing, and exchange experiences while strengthening cooperation across the youth sector. The discussions further reinforced the importance of creating meaningful opportunities for young people to actively contribute to decision-making processes at local, national, and European levels.

Finally, ENGSO Youth would like to thank the outgoing Board for all their valuable work and dedication over the past mandate. We also warmly congratulate the incoming Board and wish them every success and the best of luck over the next two years as they lead the European Youth Forum forward.
