Celebrating ENGSO Youth’s birthday with strategic Committee meetings in Lisbon

What a perfect way to kick-start ENGSO Youth birthday weekend than by strategising and planning the future of European youth sport with ENGSO Executive Committee members and ENGSO Youth Committee members!

From 10 to 12 April 2026, the ENGSO Youth Committee gathered in Lisbon, Portugal, to focus on strategic discussions for youth sport development, decision-making, communications campaigns and preparing the upcoming ENGSO General Assembly and Youth Assembly that will be taking place from 22 to 24 May in Budapest, Hungary. The meeting was hosted by our member organisation, the Sports Confederation of Portugal – Confederação do Desporto de Portugal (CDP) – and included a joint meeting with ENGSO Executive Committee.

The weekend started with a fruitful discussion together with ENGSO ExCom members on the value and importance of organised voluntary-based grassroots sport for European society as a whole and its power in connecting communities across Europe, fostering participation, inclusion and equality.

Throughout the weekend, committee members discussed the current state of play of crucial European Union (EU) and Council of Europe (CoE) policy processes, such as the negotiations for the Multiannual Financial Framework, Erasmus+ Programme, the new EU Youth Strategy post-2027, and the inclusion of the Youth Perspective in the CoE processes.

It was also the time to finalise the last works leading to the upcoming ENGSO General Assembly and Youth Assembly that will be taking place from 22 to 24 May in Budapest, Hungary.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Sports Confederation of Portugal for their warm hospitality and continued engagement and cooperation in advancing European Grassroots Youth Sport.
