Young People for Democracy: ENGSO Youth at the 10th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth
ENGSO Youth Committee member Jan Fiala participated in the Youth Event of the 10th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth in Malta, where young people from across Europe collaborated on proposals for the New Democratic Pact for Europe.
The 10th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Youth was titled “Young People for Democracy: Youth Perspectives in Action”, and held in Valletta, Malta, on 8–9 October 2025. The youth event took place prior to the conference, on 7-8 October 2025.
Young participants explored how to protect, practice, and innovate democracy through civic education, human rights, youth participation, and democratic resilience. The outcomes of these discussions will be presented directly to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.
As a representative of ENGSO Youth, Jan advocated for equal access to sport, sustainability, and youth empowerment through sport. He emphasised that:
“Sport is not only about competition — it’s a powerful tool for inclusion, education, and participation. By promoting fairness, integrity, and equal opportunities in sport, we reinforce the very principles that lie at the heart of democracy.”
