Youth Club Parliament by the City of Helsinki

Duration: Representatives are selected for a two-year term 


Procedure for involvement: So far everyone interested has been included in the group 


Specific Criteria:  

  • Sports club member aged 12–16 years (only mandatory criterium) 
  • interested in developing sports clubs and their activities 
  • interested to cooperate with the municipal Sports Services of the City of Helsinki 
  • wants to be part of the Club Parliament activities (there is also a Club Parliament “for adults”) 

Description: 


Youth Club Parliament is an activity designed for youth, with the purpose of hearing the thoughts, ideas and views of young people on sports clubs’ activities and their development. The Youth Club Parliament has about four meetings per year, on weekday evenings at the municipal Sports Services premises. The Sports Services of the City of Helsinki has created to Youth Club Parliament as part of their work for the UNICEF Child-Friendly Municipality concept. 


The Youth Club Parliament started as a pilot in 2023. In 2024 the activity resumed as part of the regular work of the Sports Services, and 9 young people from different sports and clubs joined. 


The activity is being further developed. In 2024 the focus of the Youth Club Parliament was on the wellbeing of youth in sports clubs and on different try-outs for concrete activities.
