Description:
The German Sports Youth (dsj) is the youth organisation of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). The dsj represents the interests of its member organisations at federal level and advocates for the needs and concerns of all young people involved in sport. It coordinates the work of the member organisations to further develop the forms of sports and general youth work, promoting education in and through sport. Members of the dsj are the youth organisations of the member organisations of the DOSB.
German Sports Youth brings together the interests of around 10 million children, adolescents and young people aged up to 26 years in around 87,000 sports clubs and 89 youth sport organisations. This makes dsj the largest independent provider of child and youth welfare services in the Federal Republic of Germany.
The board of dsj consists of eight people who are elected by the general assembly for a period of two years (with the exception of the managing director). The positions to be filled are the first chair, the second chair, a board member for finance and four other members without a directly assigned area of responsibility. A maximum of five of the board members may be 27 years or older at the time of their election. In addition, the managing director is part of the board with an advisory vote.
