Move4Nature at the European Youth & Sport Platform 2025

As part of the ongoing Move4Nature project, ENGSO Youth organised two impactful activities on 6 June 2025 during the European Youth and Sport Platform 2025 (EYSP25) in Munich. The events, a Move4Nature walk and a run, aimed to promote physical activity among young people while highlighting the importance of environmental sustainability.

A total of 50 participants joined the initiative, collectively covering an impressive 250 kilometers, with each individual contributing 5 km. The events were led by ENGSO Youth staff and two inspiring young delegates from the Sustainable Development Working Group 2023–2025, Ariadna and Denise. This was a great example of how you can build physical activity and moving in nature into events.

Immediately following the run and walk, a series of interactive sustainability workshops took centre stage, reinforcing the connection between sport and ecological responsibility:

  • Sport Technology: Striving for Sustainability or Results?
Led by Bence Garamvölgyi from Budapest Sports Service Provider, this session explored how urban infrastructure and grassroots sport can adapt to climate challenges, using real-world projects like sustainable renovations of Budapest’s ice rink.

  • Beyond Europe: Sustainable Sport Actions with the Global South
Spearheaded by Dr Ben Sanders of the International Platform on Sport & Development, this workshop examined global perspectives, encouraging low-carbon, inclusive sporting initiatives that bridge Europe and the Global South.

These workshops captured the essence of EYSP25’s theme, ‘Youth & Sport in a Trending World’, by combining physical action with meaningful dialogue on sustainable development. Participants engaged in vibrant discussions, reflected on practical sustainability strategies, and connected sport to broader environmental and societal goals.
