ENGSO Youth contributes to the Council of Europe (CoE) Reference Framework for a Youth Perspective
With the Reykjavik Declaration, adopted at the 4th Summit of Heads of State and Government (16th-17th May 2023), the Council of Europe is moving forward in developing international standards for working with and for young people.
More specifically, with the political impetus provided by the Reykjavik Declaration, the Council of Europe is spearheading a novel approach by adding the integration of a Youth Perspective in the Organisation’s bodies and other sectors and deliberations, further strengthening youth participation in decision-making processes. Taking a youth perspective and improving youth participation within this framework will increase the effectiveness of public policies and strengthen democratic institutions through open dialogue, whilst fostering the role of young people in civil society.
ENGSO Youth is closely following this process to make sure the Youth Perspective is also incorporated into the Sport Division of the Council of Europe, having due respect for the needs, challenges and priorities of youth sport.
As part of this process, in September, ENGSO Youth will take part in a meeting to develop the Council of Europe Reference Framework for a Youth Perspective, which will in turn be used to implement a youth perspective within the CoE sectors and bodies, including within Sport. something that is aligned with the work that will be developed in the upcoming CoE’s Conference of Ministers Responsible for Sport, taking place from 8th to 10th October, in Porto.
