ENGSO Youth Young Delegates and Alumni Club meet online to connect and discuss inclusion in sport

ENGSO Youth (EY) runs two programmes that connect individuals who are willing to take meaningful action and play an important role in advocating and empowering children and young people in the sport for all sector.

“Young Delegates” programme welcomes 25 young people, divided into five working groups, between the ages of 18-30. The programme is aligned with the EY Committee and runs for two years. It supports “youth leaders committed to using sport as a tool for positive social change.

The newer programme, established in 2021, is called the “Alumni Club” and welcomes former EY Committee members, staff and Young Delegates who finished their mandate. The aim of Alumni Club is to inspire, feel connected to the organisation, support and advise on the development of EY and to represent and share expert opinion on the ENGSO Youth working fields.

This week, on 31 October 2023, we organised the inaugural joint meeting with members of both programmes and with a specific focus on inclusion in sport.

EY Alumni Club members Laura-Maria Lehiste, Christian Hajj and Rachel May presented their work and initiatives related to the inclusion, equality and volunteering in sport.

The meeting was concluded by EY Chair Ugnė Chmeliauskaitė and EY Policy manager Tiago Guilherme who introduced the work organisation has implemented in the past years and briefly presented the 2024-2027 strategy, both related to the field of inclusion in and through sport.

The joint meeting will take place every three months. The edition is scheduled for January, focusing on the topic of health.
