Presenting EYSP 2023 Conclusions at the Meeting of EU Directors-General for Sport
At the recent meeting of EU Directors-General for Sport that was held in Stockholm, Sweden (15-16 June), Paniz Yousefi, ENGSO Youth Young Delegate, had a say about youth participation, sport governance, digitalisation and sustainability in sport, topics addressed by the outcomes of the European Youth & Sport Platform 2023.
She represented ENGSO Youth in the meeting and highlighted the success of ENGSO Youth’s new flagship event and the first edition of the European Youth & Sport Platform that took place in Stockholm, Sweden, on 1-4 June 2023. The main outcome of the event was the Conclusion Paper developed by around 100 young leaders representing youth and sport sectors from across Europe that addressed the three main topics identified at the EU level, by the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027 and the Swedish Presidency of the Council ofthe EU, as priorities for the Youth and Sport sectors, namely: Youth Participation and Good Governance, Digitalisation and Sport, and Sustainability in Sport.
During the presentation, Paniz specifically highlighted that: – At the European Youth and Sport Platform 2023 (EYSP2023), Young participants had the opportunity to work together throughout four days, three high-level sessions, and nine workshops to shape the future of the European youth and sport agenda;
– The recommendations issued in the EYSP2023 Conclusions aim to further inform and prompt decision-makers to meaningful and effective action when it comes to planning, shaping and executing EU and National Youth and Sport policies;
– There can’t be sport governance without Youth participation, therefore, strongly encouraging the EU, its Member States, and the Youth and Sport Stakeholders to join efforts in addressing the recommendations issued by the Young representatives from the EYSP2023.
There was also the opportunity to briefly showcase the valuable resources and wide range of initiatives, programmes, and activities that ENGSO Youth creates together with our young delegates and participants of our events.
The recommendations put forward by the young representatives have resonated with decision-makers and stakeholders, creating momentum for meaningful and effective action. Thus, the European Youth and Sport Platform 2023 assumes itself as a flagship event within the European Youth and Sport landscape, making a significant impact in shaping the future of youth and sport policies in Europe.
We would like to thank the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU for the opportunity to present the Conclusions of the European Youth and Sport Platform 2023 at the Meeting of EU Directors-General for Sport. The European Youth and Sport Platform 2023 was organised by ENGSO Youth in cooperation with ENGSO and The Swedish Sports Confederation, under the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU.
