2023-25 ENGSO Youth Committee elected at the 2023 ENGSO and ENGSO Youth General Assembly
“2021-2023 was a golden mandate for youth.”
The two-year mandate officially came to an end this weekend, in Hersonissos, Crete, Greece, at the 2023 Youth Assembly, held on the occasion of the 31st ENGSO General Assembly, hosted by the Hellenic Paralympic Committee.
The highlight of the assembly was the election of members of the new ENGSO Youth Committee that will lead the organisation for the period of 2023-2025. The newly elected Committee members are:
Chair: Ugne Chmeliauskaite, Lithuanian Union of Sports Federations (Lithuania)
Vice Chair: Erik van Haaren, Netherlands Olympic Committee and Sports Federation (Netherlands)
Before heading into the ENGSO and ENGSO Youth General Assembly, the Member and EU seminar took place on Friday and Saturday (morning), addressing topics such as equality and project EQUIP, member survey, sustainability, crisis resilience and national funding for sport mobility – Erasmus+.
ENGSO Youth Assembly followed the ENGSO General Assembly which began in the afternoon on Saturday, 13 May 2023. Besides the election as the highlight of the event, Youth Assembly also included the presentation of the main activities implemented during 2021-2023, specifically highlighting the major success and growth ENGSO Youth accomplished during the past mandate.
Reaching over 350.000 people online and engaging over 500 young people through its international projects and empowering events, accomplishing its highest budget in 21 years, positioning itself as a powerful player on the European sport and youth policy map, and more.
During the assembly, the re-elected Chair Ugne Chmeliauskaite introduced the first edition of a new event – The European Youth & Sport Platform, invited ENGSO members to support youth in applying to the ENGSO Youth Young Delegates programme and announced the 2021-2023 Best Volunteer award which was awarded to Anton Klischewski (Sustainable Development working group).
What’s next? The past and present ENGSO Youth Committee will officially transfer its duties during the meeting at the upcoming European Youth & Sport Platform, held on 1-4 June 2023, in Stockholm, Sweden.
