ENGSO Youth advocates for youth sport leadership at EHF Leadership Forum
In March 2023, ENGSO Youth Chair Ugne Chmeliauskaitė and Policy Manager Tiago Guilherme participated in the European Hockey Federation (EHF Executive) Leadership Forum and the EHF Development Committee meeting with an aim to share the perspective of youth sport and present the benefits of youth leadership within sport organisations.
The event kicked off on 23 March 2023 with the EHF Development Committee meeting in which both, Ugne Chmeliauskaitė and Policy Manager Tiago Guilherme, participated. The meeting was followed by the EHF Executive Leadership Forum, held on 24-26 March 2023, with the main message of the importance of youth for sustainable organisational structure.
ENGSO Youth Chair Ugne Chmeliauskaitė was one of the special guests and speakers at the Forum, presenting the benefits of youth inclusion and leadership in sport organisations. She highlighted that, as per our position paper on the strategic partnerships for Youth empowerment, ENGSO Youth is glad to see other European organisations establishing Youth bodies, in the case of EHF – the European Hockey Federation’s Youth Panel.
“ENGSO Youth and EHF Youth Panel have a lot of similarities. We are glad to support EHF’s intentions to give space for Youth and listen to their voice. Moreover, the upcoming Youth Festival edition, which will be organised in August by EHF Youth Panel members, showcases the recognition of the importance of the Youth initiatives in the Hockey community”, stated Ugne Chmeliauskaite, ENGSO Youth chair.
More than 50 people attended the Forum, from Presidents to Executive Members, representing various European sports organisations.
ENGSO Youth also invited EHF Youth Panel members to the upcoming European Youth and Sport Platform 2023 which will be held in Stockholm, Sweden, on 1-4 June 2023.
