Young people take centre stage at the Opening of the European Week of Sport 2022
#HealthyLifestyle4AllYouth Ideas Lab crossed the finish line at the Opening of the European Week of Sport 2022
The European Week of Sport is an annual initiative promoting active and healthier lifestyles to millions of people in Europe and beyond. Because 2022 is the European Year of Youth, this year’s edition of the most #BeActive week in a year is dedicated to young people, and presents the conclusion of the new European Commission’s initiative called “#HealthyLifestyle4All Youth Ideas Lab”.
From Lille, to Brussels and Prague, ENGSO Youth took on an active role in the #HealthyLifestyle4All Youth Ideas Lab. The initiative kicked off in June on the occasion of the EU Sport Forum, where the participants proposed ideas to improve the lives of young people in Europe, and concluded in September, at the Opening of European Week of Sport, with presentation of those proposals.
ENGSO Youth Chair Ugne Chmeliauskaitė, Vice Chair Filip Filipić, and Policy and Projects Manager Tiago Guilherme attended the last stage of the journey, which ended with young participants addressing the leaders and stakeholders, and presenting the ideas to make young Europeans healthier, more active and happier. Ugne Chmeliauskaitė and Tiago Guilherme spoke up on the legacy of the Youth Ideas Lab and called on leaders to listen and include young people in the decision-making processes on all levels; from European to local.
Day before, Ugne Chmeliauskaitė moderated#HealthyLifestyle4All seminar, with Filip Filipič and ENGSO Youth Young Delegate Marianna Pikul joining for the discussion on strengthening promotion and raising awareness of the healthy lifestyle.
ENGSO Youth is also a partner of the European Week of Sport, and joins the movement each with activities that promote and support youth and sport in Europe.
This year we will join forces with ENGSO and The European Lotteries, and host “#BeActive for Sport Integrity” event will take place on September 29, in Brussels, Belgium. The event will focus on young people and their potential to lead towards a positive change and promote the values of integrity within the European sports sector.
