#HealthyLifestyle4All Youth Ideas Lab: on-site in Brussels
Brussels, 28-29 August 2022 – #HealthyLifestyle4All Youth Ideas Lab kicked off in June at the 2022 edition of the EU Sport Forum in Lille, France. The aim of the initiative is to create space for young people to speak up on various issues and barriers related to the healthy lifestyle of the European youth.
Brussels, Belgium, was the middle stop on our journey from the starting point in Lille (EU Sport Forum) to the final destination in Prague (The Opening of the European Week of Sport).
Ugne Chmeliauskaitė (chair), Filip Filipć (vice-chair), Iva Glibo (committee member) Polona Fonda (communications), Christian Hajj (projects) and Tabea Werner (Young Delegate) represented ENGSO Youth which was one of the six youth organisations joining the initiative.
Day one began with a welcome and introduction in Park Leopold and in the Experience Europe Centre, followed by the Treasure Hunt across the Brussels city centre. Monday kicked off with a meeting at the European Commission’s DG EAC (Education, Youth, Sport and Culture). The aim of the morning sessions was to inform us about the work and the opportunities within the European Commission that relate to youth: sport, youth and traineeships units.
Ms Florencia Van Houdt, the Head of the Sport Unit, presented the aim, strategy and the work of the sport department, followed by the Deputy Head Ms Marisa Fernandez Esteban, and Policy Officers Mr Tomas Kukal, the coordinator of the Youth Ideas Labs, Mr Ignazio Cocchiere and Mr Stefano Pintus. We also had a chance to learn more about the traineeship programme, the European Year of Youth and the #HealthyLifestyle4all conference which will be held on the occasion of the opening of the European Week of Sport (and moderated by our chair Ugne Chmeliauskaitė.
The afternoon sessions were dedicated to finetuning of our #HealthyLifestyle4all pledges and strategizing the future of the Youth Ideas Lab.
Next stop: Prague, Czech Republic, the host of the 2022 Opening of the European Week of Sport (23 September 2022).
