2022 Youth Assembly hosted by the Faroese Confederation of Sports and Olympic Committee
The 2022 edition of the Youth Assembly was held in Torshavn, Faroe Islands, hosted by the Faroese Confederation of Sports and Olympic Committee, on the occasion of the 30th ENGSO General Assembly, on 28 May, 2022.
The 2022 Youth Assembly was organised within the framework of the 30th ENGSO General Assembly, which began on Friday, May 27, with an EU/members seminar and concluded on Saturday, 28 May, with ENGSO and Youth Assemblies.
ENGSO Youth contributed to several activities, including the session on the HealthyLifestyle4all initiative and the role of sport organisations in contributing to it. Ugnė Chmeliauskaitė (ENGSO Youth chair) led the workshop and discussed the work of the youth body in the field of health, particularly mental health of young people. Polona Fonda (ENGSO Youth communication manager) presented the activities ENGSO Youth has been facilitating within the framework of the European Commission’s #HealthyLifestyle4all initiative, while Filip Filipić (ENGSO Youth vice-chair) focused on the importance of digital hygiene and protecting mental health in the digital age.
Other sessions of #ENGSOGA2022 included Sport recovery after Covid-19, Equality in sport – LGBTQI+, Sport coaching for mental well-being (SPIRIT project) and a workshop on the definition and the position on the European Sport Model.
The 2022 Youth Assembly was held on day two, Saturday, May 28, introducing and presenting the 2021 development, work and activities of ENGSO Youth, including its Young Delegate and the new Alumni programme, projects, financials, events and more. The Committee also held elections to replace Rashan McDonald (UK) who stepped down in the beginning of 2022, and welcomed a new member, Luka Börger (FRA), who will represent the French Olympic Committee.
Despite the pandemic still dictating our daily lives, 2021 was a year of growth for ENGSO Youth. We managed to organise the on site “Step In For Inclusion” event (Portugal), attend more than 50 events, welcome 25 new Young delegates, open a new Alumni programme, sign the #HealthyLifestyle4all pledge, release two position papers, run 2 and partner in 4 different projects in various fields, and give an opportunity to thrive and develop to more than 500 young people from all over the World.
We also presented the planned activities for 2022 (of which many have already taken place): Human Rights Education programme (3 international activities in Hungary, Portugal and Netherlands), Youth for Sustainable Development meeting (Italy), Sport for Sustainable Development exchange and training course in Senegal and Japan, new website, and more.
The 2023 edition of the Youth Assembly will be held within the framework of 31st ENGSO General Assembly which will be held in Crete, Greece, and hosted by the Hellenic Paralympic Committee.
